Whats wrong with my blower motor?

My blower motor feels awful weak for the car. I have replaced the cabin filter in hopes that it would increase the power a bit...it didn't. I am to the point that I am about to invest in a new blower motor. I also have a 98 civic as winter daily driver and its' blower motor is much stronger than the m3's.

Do BMW's have weak blower motors compared to other cars? or is mine wearing out. Mine on high feels like the civic's about half way.

Is there anything else that I should try before buying a new blower motor?

What makes a blower motor with removable cages twice as much as one without removable cages?

interestingly enough, after I replaced my filthy cabin filter, I felt the blower motor had diminished in power a bit

This thread may be of some help to you, I have the intermittent climate control issues and I'm getting ready to try the re-solder DIY.

I previously had a weaker airflow from my blower motor. By tearing down to the motor, I found two issues.

First, the semi-circular cover wasn't fully on thus some of that air was not being directed to the cabin. Simple fix.

Second, there was some actual electrical contact problem with the motor. I could wiggle one of the two wires connecting to it and modulate the rotational speed of the motor. I replaced the motor with a new one - fixed.

My new motor came off Ebay. It has removable wheels which absolutely makes the installation easier.

When you increase the blower speed from mid to high, does it actually sound louder, blow harder or does it stop at a certain point? If so, this could be the FSU pack.
