Problem with my 95 m3

    Hello all,

I have a 1995 BMW m3 (complete car) engine runs but there is some type of electrical problem that i can't get sorted out, I don't even know where to start. Car has over 100k miles but engine is out of a 97 with about 60k on it. Car runs great but one day it just starting bogging down when i start it and I cant get the gas pedel to respond. replaced the DME and the chip. Anyone know where I should start? Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

If you replaced the ECU you either need to have the ECU aligned with the EWS or disable EWS. (you need a dealer or someone with a BMW GT1 system)

What you described doesn't really narrow anything down...have you been able to start the car since you swapped the DME? Did you try the original chip in the new DME and vice versa?

Does an OBDI conversion require you to bypass the EWSIII system altogether to get the OBDII engine to run on the earilier platform? If that's the case would it require an allignment at all (I wouldn't think so)? I'm assuming EWSII is not the issue.

Do you have fuel and spark? How about a vacuum leak?

Really no need for a Peake scanner, he has a '95. Pedal trick works just fine.

                      So it's running an OBDI-converted S52 (96+ motor)?

How long has the swap been running?

                      Who did the swap?

Was it ever running properly after the swap?

                      Check engine light? Codes?
