    Race Exhaust System E36 M3

    Hi!

From many time i looking for a right race exhaust for my BMW E36 M3 3.0 286hp Euro Model!

I want to put this race headers on the car:

These headers is with 10 year warranty, dyno tested and possible to fit all 6 cylinders e36,possible to fit on M3,will be enough big for S50B30?

I want to finish with one race carbon muffler but i don't know will be in 60mm inlet or 75mm?

Make all exhaust system with one pipe 63mm from the end of headers or make a standart 2 pipes with more bigger diameter?

Please help me with more info, pdf files,DIY because i use the car only for track/race event!!

    Thank you!

    Best Regards,Martin

P.S.If anyone want to help me with info, files ...my e-mail is [email protected]

No those are shorties, you want long tube headers for your proposed application. Trust me.

Thank you for your answer but if i fit a pipes and "make" a longer have a effect or looking for a long race headers?

Will be more effect if i buy a "braided' headers or "straight" headers?

Last questionwhat happend if i fit a shortly headers-lose a torque in small and middle rpm or what?

      Thank you in advance!

Supersprint makes a very good header for your European specification E36 M3, but it is very expensive. Raceland, an internet company that copies products others make, sells a copy of the European Supersprint header for much less than Supersprint.

RMS, a company in the US, makes headers that might be a little bigger than even the European Supersprint headers. They are about as expensive as the European Supersprint.

Kromerkraft makes a very good stepped header in a race version with larger tubes. It is more expensive than the European Supersprint. A stepped header helps preserve low end torque while increasing top end power.

There may be companies in Europe or Asia that make an upgraded header for your car that do not advertise in the USA, where most members of this forum live. Your engine was never imported to the USA. We probably cannot help you as well as people in Europe.

This company with the first headers(on the photo) show me a second for M3,my engine S50B30 Euro Model:

I think the header from Hot Tuning is a copy or replica of the European Supersprint. You should find out the primary and secondary pipe diameters before buying.

Contact forum member Alex Lipowich for advice. He knows these engines well and is familiar with the modifications:

                  http://www.abloriginalparts.com/pb/w..._c6cf2f03.html

On my supercharged 1999 M3, USA model with factory 240 hp, I used the European Supersprint midpipe and rear exhaust with RMS headers

                  http://www.bmpdesign.com/category-ex..._model%5D/143/

                  http://racemarque.com/index.php?page...hk=1&Itemid=64

The engine made over 460 rwhp. The supercharger and many mods helped, but the exhaust flowed well and was quiet enough to drive every day.

Active Autowerks also makes "race headers" and a 3 inch diameter race exhaust.

Stepped headers are the best for a daily driven car, but there are very few for the E36 M3. Kromer Kraft is the only one as far as I know.

Marto e46, what SG_M3 means is that your stock header will flow far better than the cheaper options you're looking at. To the best of my (rather limited) knowledge, the best flowing headers for the Euro & S54 motors are, in decreasing order, Kromer Kraft, Supersprint, and stock.

Again, send forum member Alex Lipowich (Alex L) a message and ask. There are very few people more knowledgeable about the euro motors, especially on this forum.

                        Hi guys,

                        Coming late to the conversation.

In my opinion you're working under a set of false assumptions.

Because many stock engines come with headers that are not designed well, it is relatively easy to find replacement upgrades and get more power.

This is simply not true for your engine. The same basic header design (ok, lighter, and slightly thinner metal) is used on the S50B32. There is not any really good evidence out there to suggest that you can easily improve the performance of your engine by putting on a better header.

If you modify your pistons, cams and bore out the block and use a carbon fiber intake so that you're making say...ok, off the cuff....380 + HP at the crank, ie 330 at the rears.... MAYBE you'll realize a benefit by going to larger diameter headers like Supersprint.....

I think there is a possibility that a full on Kromer Kraft header/midpipe/exhaust system might outperform the stock set up, but it will likely cost $2000 or more to gain perhaps 5-7 HP at most.

When I had Shrick Cams, CF intake, dry sump, programming, higher compression gasket, no alternator, no PS, and no wp on the engine, I saw 330 at the rear wheels, and there was benefit to the SS headers, though, we did still lose some torque.

For a DE/Track car, you WANT all the torque you can get from a S50B30 engine. You'd be far better off retaining the headers, and getting cams/CF intake/custom tuned chip for that set up. Add in the dual pickup oilpan too so you don't damage the engine on the track.

You're simply not going to realize any real-world gains by just swapping on different headers... the factory ones are quite good, they're not restricting your engine at all.

Now, putting on lightweight mid-pipe and muffler compared to stock makes a LOT of sense, saving weight off your car will probably net you faster lap times much quicker than trying to get those precious seconds by putting on headers.

Just my 02 worth, and, really not adding much to the conversation, the guys above me said the same thing.

                        Alex.

The S54 engine, not exactly the same as your European S50, picked up significant horsepower and torque using Supersprint stepped headers. Unfortunately, Supersprint does not make stepped headers for the S50. Kromerkraft does, but they are expensive. For track use, you don't need the stepped headers since only high rpm power is important, but for the street, they are the best.

You need to find a stepped header design.
