Is there any place where I can buy a brake duct that replaces the fog light with a brake duct connected to the original brake duct? It would kind of be a y-pipe type of thing. So does anybody know if such a thing exists and where to get it?

And for that reason, (more air to the duct), I ask why? It won't cool the brakes anymore then not having it there. Here's what you asked about http://www.bmpdesign.com/product-exe...earch_model/38
To adequately cool the brakes, you really need something like. http://www.bmpdesign.com/product-exe...earch_model/38
Expensive? Yes, effective? yes...

Yes, since the air is not directed it does very little. jayjaya29 is right that it is better than nothing, but only by a tiny margin.Originally posted by LemonPaperOh. I see. So basically, the OEM brake ducts are also ineffective?
It is pointless in any case, because cars driven on the street can cool their brakes rather quickly and they are never used to the same degree as race cars. Unless your car is tracked regularly it is a waste of money.

The factory ducts work surprisingly well for a street car, hence I asked why you thought you needed more air?
If you are tracking the car hard enough to really need more cooling, then blowing more air into the wheel well, probably isn't the most efficient way to do it. And adding more drag by opening another hole in the bumper cover, is probably counter productive too.

For what its worth, I have had six E36's, four of which were M3 sedans. They have all been stock street cars but have been tracked occasionally.
If you don't think the factory brake ducts do anything on the track, just tape them off for a run and see what happens. I had one front brake get very hot on-track and started to cause brake fade. I pitted and found one of the front brake ducts had come loose and was no longer directing air to the front brake on that side. A few tie wraps later, the problem was solved. No more fade.
More air is better. Much more air is much more better, but can get expensive. Unless you are crazy fast (which I am not), factory brake ducts are likely sufficient.
Again, just my $0.02...

Hey Mike... You ever get down to Blackhawk Farms in Beloit? I was down there with Badger Bimmers twice this summer. Fun little track.
