    Disapearing oil after replacing CCV

I had oil disappearing and replaced the CCV and all associated hoses, tried thicker oil, diesel oil etc. But I still have the same outcome. I show NO signs of a bad head gasket. No smoke, Nothing in the coolant, nothing dripping. The car runs fine just uses oil. Pretty much all oil shown on the dipstick disappears after just under 2k or 2.5k

    What could be the issue?

Extra notes: I did an oil change when I replaced the CCV and refilled it with Redline 10w-40 (its winter here at the moment) and now is a few months later still winter and about 2k later

How many mile do you have? It still could be blow by the valve seals or even rings. Also have you done a compression test?

I just read a comment about the dipstick seal somewhere, said its notorious. Maybe check that. My new ccv seems to have really slowed or stopped this.

Could the choice of oil cause this? Such as since after I did the CCv and cleaned the icv I used redline vs an alternative?

Also I see no oil spots. It's very weird I mean the oil has to be going somewhere so I'm guessing it's burning it

Your burning it if you don't see any drips.

The amount of oil it takes to go from "low" on the dipstick to "high" on the dipstick is 1 quart. If you are going from "high" to "low" within 2k miles, that is normal oil consumption for these cars.

Abnormal consumption would be 1 quart lost in 500 miles of driving.

Jay please define further about this issue since I've been freaking out about this for a while now. So with what you just said how will I know the true oil level? A longer dipstick lmao?

Agreed. I usually add 2 quarts of edge 40wt between my 5k mile changes.

Just add oil until it comes back in between the high and low marks...

With this type of oil consumption its a good practice to check your oil at least on every 2nd gas fill up.

Also, its not bad to overfill the oil by a quart, many racers (I included) overfill to prevent ticking after runs.

So I assume my problem was that I didn't occasionally add in more oil. This past oil change I added a extra 1/2 quart but as you can see even with more oil it still eats up the oil.

Doesnt make a difference what the oil level is at, it will constantly eat oil, hence you gotta check it often.

What oil do you guys use and what weight?

                              Ive used:

                              5w-30 Redline

                              Shell Rotella T6 5w-40

                              10w-40 Redline

I think I'm going back to the Rotella T6. I liked it the best

I'm not saying I'm using the wrong oil being the cause of my problems..I just want the opinions of the people who have posted in this thread in the past of what oil they recommend
