Every inspection 2, or about every 30K miles. Just like the transmission fluid. (old school maintenance schedule)

        thanks.

I'm getting an oil change tomorrow to get ready for upcoming season and figured I'd have diff oil done as well. how extensive of a job is this as i'm not familiar with it? is it as simple as putting it up on a lift, draining it, then refilling it or does it involve more?

same question for tranmission fluid. aka, what would the labor be for these two extra maintenance items.

It is easy enough. get new crush washers, remove the fill plug before you remove the drain. You will need a short 14mm allen key. Often a box end wrench turning it works best as there is not room for a ratchet handle if you have a 14 mm allen socket.

Filling can be tricky. Make sure the car is level. Fill till lube comes out the fill plug. I use a funnel with a long vinyl hose attached and mount it near the back of the trunk with clamp. A fluid pump will work. I wish someone would make a diff lube bottle with built in pump.

I don't know what the book time is, but I would guess it's about a 1/2 hour each.

You need 2 qts each of ATF for the tranny and 75-90, 75-140 (either is fine) gear oil for the diff.

I tried 75W-40 and it made the car feel sluggish and have poor rolling/accelerating. I switched to 75W-90 and the car felt lighter and more responsive. It made a couple of MPG difference too.

I use Mobil 1 75W-90 full synthetic with an LSD additive, although the additive may not be neccessary if the bottle says "LS".

There is no way that the different fluid would have translated into a "couple MPG". The difference is just too minimal.
