That is a pretty reasonable price for a running and known good S50B32.
If "97 4dr" has a connection to supply AND install an S50B32 into your E36 for $5200, jump on that quickly, that is really impressive. Why so secretive?
Off the top of my head to make this happy in your E36:
midpipe and exhaust of appropriate size.
Oil pan and pump, dual set up preferred.
(I think I have these above items on the shelf)
also, minor stuff, reservoir, appropriate radiator
six speeds are fun/appropriate/justified if you up the ante and put a performance diff on. (IMHO)

This is a stupid question, but what is the difference between this motor and the S54? If you were concerned with OBDII compliance, would the S54 be the more logical choice. Thanks.

I can't answer the technical questions, but common sense tells us that the S54 is the best route, especially since they are more common, were brought here in the US and Canada (no stupid compliance crap) and parts are more common on both sides of the pond. Technicalities, IDK, reworked vanos, air intake and throttle bodies and drive by wire and exhaust maybe? It only makes 17 more horsepower...Originally posted by RickO1Alex,

S54 swaps can be ODBII compliant. SteveTVM's car is ODBII compliant. So are Alex's cars.Originally posted by henciniStill no way to make the S54 OBDii compliant, either, right? So at the end of the day, Euro swap is probably a bit easier and a bit cheaper, but harder to source parts and doesn't come with as many ponies........
