Agreed, Ive always used synthetics on all my vehicles, I will be switching this week..theres nothing wrong with conventional oils, For some reason I just feel better with the extra protection synthetics claim to provide, I talked to a guy that pulled apart motors for 30 yrs. He said the motors that ran synthetics had cylinder sleeves that looked like glass, the ones that ran conventional oil usual showed some signs of cylinder wall damage.

The S50 in my car get's the genuine BMW 5w-30 synthetic. I've ran a few other oils, most cause a touch of lifter tick, for whatever reason the genuine BMW oil keeps her quiet.

              I need a BMW S1000RR like Hookah's.

I'll bet that thing wants special oil.

Just to update, Ive called various shops and they all recommend 10w60 synthetic for our cars.

They are all wrong. That weight is only for the S54, not the S50/52. BMW calls for 5W30 (a bit thin at operating temp now at our cars age/mileage) and 15W40 (too thick at startup). I have seen dozens of these threads and the overall consensus for best weight seems to be either 0W40 or 5W40. Pick your favorite brand and call it a day. You do not want 10W60.

In my s52 I use Castrol Full Synthetic 5w-30. Only driven in summer though.
