    Vader wiggles/play

Hey folks, tried searching (seems like this would be a common problem), but I can't turn up any information on tightening up Vader seats. I have play in my driver's seat in both the fore/aft direction (feels like the seatback release is loose) and laterally, as I can feel the seat shift under me when going around a corner. I'm assuming some bushings have worn out (the penskeparts diagrams aren't overly helpful here), but was hoping for some direction on what is commonly replaced before tearing it apart. Thoughts? Thanks!

My driver's vader is super loose. It's on the right rail. I need to take the seat out and take a look at what is causing the problem though. I don't know if there's a plastic bushing that's shot, the metal is bent, or just something loose where the seat bracket hooks to the rail. You can put your hand behind the seat and push it forward and it rocks forwards and backwards and a little side to side, but its not where it bolts to the floor.

I've had a similar problem, at least it sounds the same, after I had taken out my seat.

Turned out the two rails weren't exactly parallel to each other. When I checked underneath, I noticed the 'hook' that grabs into the holes to lock the seat in place, didn't reach the hole on one side, because of the rails not being excatly parallel to each other.

After realigning the two rails, both sides grab the notches and problem solved.

This is on a manual seat. If it's electrical, it's something else.

Awesome. We are finally due to get a nice weekend and so I'll check out what's going on with my seat. I have manual seats as well so hopefully this is all it is.

            I'll take photos...

I suspect the lateral movement is pretty common. I found numerous threads over the years about this issue. The Z3 guys apparently have a similar problem and there is indeed some plastic piece that wears over time. However it doesn't seem like the E36s have the same part/issue.

My power driver's side sedan seat shifts in turns sometimes. It's very annoying. I had the seat out recently for some foam repair on the bolster and spent time looking underneath and checking to make sure the bolts that were accessible were tight, but didn't see anything obvious wrong. I'll be interested to hear if you find a solution.

Found my problem. Each seat rail has two rollers in between the rails. There's one in the front and one in the rear on each side of the rail. The roller has a rubber "band" that sits in the middle and the entire roller is wedged between the rail, one in front, one in rear of each rail, and the rails roll on these "rollers"

The rear one on my drivers inner rail is missing. I don't think its a part that is sold separately (didn't see it on realoem) and I can't figure out an inexpensive way to make something that would work either. I think I'm screwed.

I took a few pics but they were in my garage and were overexposed by the sunlight. I got it fixed though. I made a roller from a large roll pin and dremeled a channel in it and put an o ring on it. Got it placed in the track channel and it works well. Got the seat all back together and no more wobble!! Time will tell if my fix is permanent.

I'll see if I can't digitally enhance the photos to make them viewable.
