Every EU M3 and M Z3's have that.

On my SMG M3 there's also such a shield on the other side to protect the SMG hydro unit from the exhaust manifold (which itself also has a heat shield).

Interesting. Happen to have the part number?

It was easy to find in the ETK with a "heat shield" search.

Just to be sure it was indeed that part, as the description can be odd at times, I double checked it on my car.

        P/N is 51 48 2 253 266

Funny enough it's also listed for US S52, although convertibles only.

I think someone on this forum tried to do a heatshield retrofit on a US motor but the clearance on the coolant hose became really tight and ended up slicing through

Should be easy to modify the shield to make fit, I guess.

But you do need to fit the threaded stuts on the chassis as well to properly mount it.

okay so i finally have everything plugged in and install but the coolant plumbing worries me. Can anyone verify if they have the same type of layout or clearance.

The first few pics is the radiator coolant hose and I notice that it is pressing up against the curve corner of the airbox. Is that also normal? I thought there would at least be some room so when coolant does circulate and those hose expands, there won't be any pressure

Next, the thermostat that goes behind the airbox itself has coolant lines hooked into it. The best position for them to rest upon appears to be on top of the power steering reservoir.

I doubt that would be normal. But I see you have the expension tank on the other side. Which in theory should give you even more space.

But I can't really command on the S52 layout.
