I thought you had issues with your DS from TMS Eric? Or do you think that was just a one off?

maybe i'll go all out with a Drive Shaft Shop one piece!! i kid i kid.

I figured it was an out of balance drive shaft but maybe not. Car does have 155K on it, i guess i'll add this to the spring list..
I get the same on occasion (120k now, probably been doing it for nearly 40k miles though seems to happen more now).

I figured the easiest self diagnosis (as my time is harder to come by than part money) is a new driveshaft and CSB.

I haven't paid careful enough attention to driveshafts to be well educated on them. Why is that not a good idea? Install certainly looks easy!

you can swap input flanges in the car if necessary if you can get acess to the nut.. you only need to play with the diff setup if you make any changes. if you clock the retaining nut and reinstall to the same place an check it with a torque wrench nothing will change. at least not drastically enough to have pinion depth issues. ive done this job of work trucks many times. 14bolt GM rears like to kill flanges. given the cost of e36 diffs i do not care to rebuild one, id just replace, i built a e28 diff an a ford 9in and both took forever and multibal shim packs and crush washers to get right. do not want to do again.

portland driveline did the last driveshaft i bought for a e28, the installed generic universals so future repair is cheap and diy, it was like $500ish about a decade ago.

No, that was two (2) Portland units for the 46M. Big, high volume, low quality outfit. I'd expect TMS to have a much nicer product.

As for poor - hey, at least we don't have car payments!! That said, my heater core is starting to leak...... ARGH!

Edit - as long as my wife can get her hair and nails done whenever she wants she doesn't car how much I spend on the car(s).

That is a really good point about the rebalance when I replace the CV joint. Thanks for the memory jog.

i still have a car payment

And very good i'll look into the TMS if it comes to it

What would i need a rebalance for?

And the DSS one piece drive shafts had terrible vibration issues and when people complained DSS pretty much told their customers tough luck its your car not our drive shaft.

                Rebalance was directed at OP.
