New to the forum. I need some imput. I recently purchased a 1999 M3 Convertable with some mods to include intake, exhaust, coilovers. I bought it from a 3rd party so I do not have owners info. Heres the question... On the diagonastics port there is a sticker that states " STOP DO NOT UPDATE CONSULT WITH OWNER FIRST". Do you think the car was chipped or has some sort of performance software in it? How can I tell? or is this a common sticker that comes with a certain type of chip?

The easiest way to tell if you have a tune is to hold it in 3ed gear and take it to the rev limit. 6500 is stock, more than that is tuned.
The good thing is there really aren't that many places that can tune a M3. You might be able to send some emails to place including your VIN and ask them.
(Active, TRM, Dinan, and any others.) I don't know if Conforti (shark injector) came with any stickers, but it'll be hard to figure out that...
And why would ANYBODY sell a Sharked car and NOT include the injector, or remove the tune?

thanks for the help. i wish this sticker had a product name on it! i called all the places mentioned above & they all said that their stickers have their name on it. so basically im probably gonna take it to bmw dealer & run it on their computer. i just hope that they dont override what ever software was on there. but all the companies i called said that there most likely is a performance software in there. i purchased the car in virginia & googled m3 tuner shops to see if they had that sticker but i also came up empty handed.
