Well one step forward and two steps back...This weekend my zkw lens randomly decided to crack. This happened while the car was sitting in my garage. WTF!!!!????



It sounds like since it cracked while on the car I'm SOL. So that sucks.

Yeah, I have no idea. The climate is pretty mild here in the PNW so I don't think it's temp related. I think they are defective from ZKW. With all the hassles I've had getting headlights for this car maybe it's just meant to have the plastic ones.



I was planning on getting more work done on the car this weekend but didn't even want to look at it after this happened. Hopefully I'll have better updates soon.

Damn talk about shitty luck. The ZKW's are awesome but they come with a lot of extra risks. They pit super easily, the wiring can be butchered by inexperienced mechanics, you can't run a CAI with them and like what happened to you, they can crack. But they do look amazing.

Yep, pretty hard to stomach a $500 headlight lens cracking out of nowhere. I'm just going to leave it as is for now and hope ZKW releases new lenses someday.



I did order a few little things to make me feel better about it so hopefully will get working on it again soon.



Anyone from the PNW going to M car days this weekend?

DJ AUTOS maybe? I've had 3 sets for all my E36's and all have been great so far, maybe a retrofit plus the DJ AUTOS will be good. and doesn't hurt the wallet too much and are great looking.

Yeah I've had DJ Auto's before and was actually really impressed with them. I really wanted the real thing for this car...with the money I have in these I can't justify or really afford doing a retrofit. Although in hindsight I wish I would have gone that route. Hopefully at some point I can find the correct lens and replace it.

I'm torn between stamped painted and unstamped polished.

Can't find the stamped polished any longer, at least at a price anyone can afford.
