Car I am buying may need a new battery, the owner is offering to put it in before I pick it up and is letting me pick. What you guys recommend for a car being daily driven? Still the interstate mtp-91?

I am in process of building a track car and I seem to be stuck with how to proceed. Most of the information that is available via search on the forums references batteries that are no longer available (~2008-2010 era).
The Mini Cooper battery gets mentioned a lot: what size do I need to look for and what is required to install these securely for track duty?
I have looked at Braille/Deka and am on the fence due to mounting issues/questions as well as longevity even in mild use/temps.
I am ideally looking for some weight savings without having to go out and buy a new battery every 12-18 months.
Thanks.

The 2005 MCS battery is a direct fit (vent pipe fits w/o modifications) and ranges from 30-35lbs depending on manufacturer.
There are additional mounting holes at the bottom of the E36 battery compartment for smaller or larger batteries which use the original mounting hardware.
When searching, use 2005 Mini Cooper S in the search fields.
The Duracell SLI90T5 is rated at 740CAs (600CCAs) and has a two year warranty at BatteriesPlus, there is also a 10% discount at this time if ordered online and picked-up in store.

Thank you very much for that info! That Duracell seems like a good choice.
Any thoughts on the Odyssey PC680? $117 direct from the manufacturer.
Looking at interestate finds this one for the Mini... http://www.interstatebatteries.com/p...979-2147384906
Same prices as Duracell and about 6lbs lighter.

From what I've gathered online, the PC680 has troubles in colder climates and needs a weekly charge if the car is not daily driven.Originally posted by tripitzThank you very much for that info! That Duracell seems like a good choice.

I was tempted by the 16lb battery, but I didn't want to deal with that headache. Plus the PC680 will also need $14 hardware to convert the contacts to posts.
