Been here lurking a while now......

Just got her all cleaned up. Sorry for the bad pic. opinions on exterior condition? Hopefully I'm holding it up well after almost 2 years of ownership and nearly 15k miles. Image1461725303.077631.jpgImage1461725315.876228.jpg

Nice looking slick top! Is it a 98 or a 99? I have never seen one with side airbags and an 11 button OBC.

If you're going to stick with plastic USA headlights, consider grabbing a 3M kit and giving them a polish; it will bring the whole front end together and make a world of difference.

I know your post asked about the exterior but the interior looks a bit rough. Are those the original seats?

This^^^^^^ I hate seeing an E36 M3 around that look so old and beat up (not that yours is) because of the yellowed headlights. A nice polish can really clean up the car. I'm lucky that I got glass, but you'll definitely notice a difference.

          That's a MID, not OBC.

          Looks decent+

Fit that missing door handle trim and give the leather a nice clean.

Lol you guys are good. Thank you all for your kind words I agree with all of you. Ive since done oil pan gasket, vcg, oil filter housing gasket. Actually next order of business is fixing the door handles. Interior is all original, I had just cleaned the leather after the pic which is why they look a little rough. Obviously they are not perfect but I've seen some in far worse shape. The lights? Don't get me started, I hate them! Will be getting a glass set very soon.........o and not sure if anyone caught my Schwaben scanner there as well

Cars sitting at 198k miles, and has been a great car to me. Funny I never had even considered getting an e36 platform m3, now that I have I have to say I'm glad I did this has been one of my most enjoyable cars to date. I absolutely love this car, however really miss my e46 m3 hoping to get back into one later this year.

Nice car man! Really as long as you're getting good enjoyment and mileage out of it that's all that matters. How mechanically capable would you say you are?

Well I've done everything to it thus far. I'd say I'm pretty mechanically inclined, dabbled in a couple bmw specific shops. So I'm pretty confident in any repairs that may arise, oil pan gasket was a pain tho I won't lie. Removing whole front subframe w/ suspension was a bit scary but if I had to do it again I'd say I can get it done in 3-4 hours w/ a six pack of Guinness

Sorry about that... I was just going off what BMW refers to it as. (554 On-board Computer Bordcomputer) 65 81 8 357 684

Haha I have always referred to it as OBC as well. I think OBC is pretty common. What the heck does MID stand for?

OP, car looks great man. Congrats.

MID is Multi Information Display. I believe it was first seen in the E39? I have a MID and CD player in my E53 X5 (Nav unit would replace these two separate pieces in the dash). Never the less the E36 had either 18 button OBC or 11 button Check Control.
