For some reason, I am seeing the prices in Canada around the $10K CDN mark for a reasonably maintained one with 160-200K kms - only issue is there is not much supply due to the smaller market
Last time I checked, the prices in the US were higher for similar examples by $3-4K, and that is in USD

^This.Originally posted by RND1What a disappointing article. It appears to be written by someone who did a google search on E36 M3 and read forum threads. There was no indication the author has ever sat in or driven an M3, let alone owned one.
Also, are we sure that the people that kind of termed the $10K are not just a little bit richer/expect a little bit more/not happy with an inferior car anymore/only want the best of the best?
Only reason I ask is I am pretty sure that you can get a well maintained car for ~$10K. At $15K you are getting a VERY well sorted car.
The original idea behind the $10K was that it gave you a car that had no issues and could do cross country trips and may have had a few goodies. No?

You're on to something here, I suppose $10k should at least give you a very well maintained car where one could drive across the country with no issues like you said, whereas a $15k will be like the $10k car but with the right color combos and/or lower miles.Originally posted by 97_4dr_5spd_m3Only reason I ask is I am pretty sure that you can get a well maintained car for ~$10K. I agree...this part: "A V6 Camry will probably walk away from you in a straight line" would ruffle some hair; however, it's a probably...not a certainty.Originally posted by westopherI think it's a rad article and very informative. Some things are wrong but you guys have to remember these writers aren't nearly as obsessive about these cars as all the forum nerds (us).
The line about being able to have any car and still choosing the e36 is really cool, and I've heard things of the sort from many people now.

Yeah the part about avoiding the convertible is poorly worded but to be fair, keeping that contraption working is a huge pain. I just run mine with a hardtop now. I prefer it to the coupes and sedans. Its nice for both ease of maintenance/cleaning and enjoyment to be able to take off the roof.
