I'm feeling like I've hit a proverbial wall and I think I am going to look into some coaching. At this point the clear weak link is my driving; the car does exactly what a full interior, off the shelf coilover car on street tires should do. I've watched lots of video and it's not like I'm on the wrong line, but I am braking early and not staying flat in some areas where I should be. The car could *mayyybe* use a bit more front end grip, but I can probably address that with extending the splitter and going full stiff on the front bar.

      TLDR ---> I'm being a *****

      Regardless, was fun as hell and I am glad I'm at least consistent within a second or less on clean fast laps. California also looks pretty excellent this time of year. Had to snap a phone pic of the hooptie in track mode on the drive home.

      Nate, there's nothing hooptie about this car. Unless you're great at photoshopping haha. Always been a fan of red M3's and this one is no different.

      That's the Bimmerworld wheels right? Got any more shots? These look pretty enticing.

        Thanks guys, I definitely use Photoshop nearly every day of my life! But not for cleaning up this car. That's just is an iPhone photo with a quick 5 minute color edit since I can't leave well enough alone, lol. But anyhow, yes these are the BimmerWorld TE:AL TA16 wheels. Very good option for a forged 17 for our chassis. Here are some shots from when I first got them on the car last spring. Mine are the 17x8.5 ET40 with 12mm spacers front and rear. Rear fenders are trimmed, -3.5 camber front and -2.5 rear, corner balanced.

        (don't mind the radiator duct, it fell off shortly thereafter on track lol)

          Photo from last week's KW Shakedown track day at Streets of Willow:

          I managed to get to a 1:29.6, a new PB but I feel like I've plateaued as a driver. I am sure there's a faster time in there, I think at this point I want to get some instruction or at the very least, have some laps with a fast driver in my own car to see exactly what it's capable of. More than anything, I just need to really dig deep if I want to go faster. I am still being stubborn about changing the car and keeping stock interior etc... I want to ride it out with this setup for a while longer.

          Next up, gotta do a brake service, do coils and plugs, oil change, and replace my coolant hoses again. I went with Rein hoses last summer and they have been slowly seeping pretty much ever since I put them on. At first I thought maybe the hoses were just not on there tight enough but I don't think that's the problem. Thinking about BimmerWorld silicone hoses. I've got 2 other small projects ready to go as well, I have the parts but I just haven't gotten around to doing the work ever. Electric fan conversion and dual fuel pump setup. I'm really bad about buying parts and sitting on them instead of just putting them on lol.

            Nate, let me know next time you go to the track. If I can make it I'll bring my communicator and I'll work with you. I'm pretty sure I can help get you to a 2 flat.

              That would be awesome, I would love that! I am thinking the most likely would be June 15 Streets of Willow Extreme Speed $120

                For what it’s worth, I think you have the right attitude (acknowledging that the weak link may be your driving and that it may be worthwhile getting some coaching). Most would believe it has something to do with the car, which is also entirely possible, but not the right attitude if you don’t have realistic expectations of yourself and the car. I’m almost hitting a wall at Sebring and the first thing I’m doing is getting a coach. I track a ‘14 Porsche 991 (roll bar, harness, HANS, Ohlins coilovers, GT3 brakes, etc.) and recognize the same thing and work on myself first before anything else. My car was stock other than brakes, roll bar and harnesses for the first 2.5 years I tracked it. Ohlins only came later. Have fun. Beautiful E36. Mine is nowhere near done yet.

                  Car looks really clean, I love the way those ambers look in those shots.
