For the last 3 weeks or so every other time i start my car the check control light will be on, and the bottom screen under the radio says brake light fail. Ill get out, check the brake lights, both are fine. After driving about a mile or so the light turns off, and the warning goes away. Then it comes back and does the same thing. Anyone have any idea what could be causing it?

There are 3 brake lights. You said both are on. If it says brake light circuit then it is a bad switch. It is somewhat urgent as you may get rear ended.Comment

Brake light switch will say brake circuit fail. What about your third brake light?
Also contacts in the brake lights can get ****ed up over time and cause intermittent problems depending on heat and moisture.Comment
