    K&n ru-3580

Had a generic cone filter on my car from a PO, had other issues to tend to first so just got around to changing it now instead of cleaning it. I never really did a comparison of CFM flow of this thing compared to stock flow. Anyone know if this K&N RU-3580 is sufficient for the S52 or am I choking it? Doesn't seem to lag or anything, more responsive than with the junk Sceptre brand one that the PO had on it. I used to get a whistle sound about 1/3 throttle under light load (i.e. slow acceleration or driving uphill). Now the sound is different, less noticeable. I think I read somewhere that the whistling could be a cracked intake gasket? Is that right?

    Thanks in advance!

Obviously I cannot hear your whistle, but it is likely just the sound of air rushing past the barely open throttle plate. As it opens more the whistle goes away. That sound is normal with cold air intakes.

CAI kits look like they use smaller filters than that K&N you have. You aren't choking the engine with that filter.
