Not another US Spec M3 revival/Track build

    Hey all,

Been a while, flip flopped cars some and got back into yet another e36 m3. What's different about this one? Well it's green, which I've never had a green on so that's a plus. Also it's a 1 owner Florida car with maintenance records. High milage but compression is perfect. So enough of the pleasantries and down to business !

    1997 M3 5mt

Unmolested till I got her but she needs it!

    Plans

Replace trashed parts so I can dd during winter instead of using my baby (135i 6mt :^) )

Poly as much as I can

    RTABs revshift

    Replace powersteering lines

    Flex disc

Brakes (steel branded lines and so on)

    Shocks and shock mounts

    Control arms rears and fronts

    Motor mounts poly revshift

    CAI

Coolant system inspect and update as needed

    Square 8.5 contours

    Stance coilovers (come springs)

    X brace

    Replace seats

    Strut braces

    Chassis reinforcement

And I'm sure I will be updating as time goes on. Owner got to old to take care of her so I'm anticipating replacing anything rubber under the car.

    Parts

    And progress!

Prepping it for driving most the fancy suspension bits are going on after winter!

Got the seats out, and cleaning interior for new seats.

Almost everything rubber seems to be in this shape

    Oem replacement for time being

Also started dropping the RTA so pics soon!

Do you records of a cooling system replacement? I would replace the ENTIRE cooling system and all rubber vacuum lines, manifold gaskets while doing so. Definitely needs to be tip-top for track work. I love the green!

Yes I do however I may pull the pump anyways and check to see if metal or plastic.

Okay so been working on the car and here is what's done

Here are the new seats, I know not Vaders but minty e36 ones regardless

Also got driver side RTAB done and installed that tool made it so much easier!

Old bushing was bad big time

        Perfect fit more soon!

make sure you grease the living hell out of that RTAB. especially the metal dowel, there should be groves in the poly where it sits and they need to be packed with grease. When i did mine the one side would creak like crazy until i repacked it.

Have you dropped the transmission yet?

I just ordered a 20" extension to get the starter and ***** bolt at the top of the trans. Talk about annoying.

Never dropped one alone, always pulled everything out at once. But good luck with that. Keep me posted as well since I may do the clutch soon.

Pulling the trans really isn't hard on these if you have the right tools

Always a pleasure to know people who work on their cars.

Bravo!! Boston Green is a real treat. I keep getting family pressure to sell mine but I know I won't find another.

                            Here's my thread.

Those were clearly not the original LUX seats. Per the color of the carpet, I'm guessing that was a Magma interior. Not easy to find.

Look at the build-sheet under the back seat. It'll define the car, obviously.

If you can give us the VIN, we can confirm it here too. https://www.bmwvin.com/

Original cars are valuable cars, in general. Modded/molested cars are good for parts, sometimes.

Yeah she had the tans with the m stripes in her but they are horrid. I'm put them up to get redone, and I'm keeping all the oem stuff I take off. As of right now she's going for a functional revival. I want performance and reliability and after having 8 I finally got it somewhat figured out. Hard to balance.. don't get rid of it man she's a beautiful car. I'll sub to yours as well. I may have my cousin do the motor mounts and powersteering lines since he has a lift.
