    My first M3

    Hey everyone,

Just picked up the very first car that started my path to the automotive realm, e36 M3 convertible in Dakar yellow. With 250K miles on her I'd expect there are something the need direct attention. Now this is my first time on the forum so if I'm posting in the wrong threat, my apologies. I would just like to receive some community insight on what I need to look for and any tip/tricks to get the most out of my first love.

    Congratulations!

I also bought my M3 recently. You will love it.

I'm sure the more experienced members here will jump in soon to provide expert advice.

Keep reading here there's lots to learn!

Unless you have a service history for the car you'll need to overhaul the cooling system and the VANOS probably needs attention. All bushes will need checking as well as a visual inspection for chassis cracks/fractures (front and rear subframes, rear trailing arm bush pockets, rear swaybar tabs, front and rear shock mounts).

      Post some pics too!

I have every service record of any and all service done to the car. It's a one owner, garage kept, regular maintenance performed on time. Has never seen a drop of non synthetic oil. Never driven hard but has been a daily driver ever since they rolled it out of the gallery. One of the very few M3 in the US that was built with the S50 B32 engine but the engine blew at 225k or so and was replaced with a new S52 B32 motor. She's getting a full check up today so we will see just how the old girl really is. I appreciate the reply guys, and the more the merrier.

            Nice car.

But no US car was ever built with the Euro motor. It wasn't legal to begin with.

              Seconded. To both points.

                Thanks guys.

And yea the BMW tech that swapped the motor said the old one was the S50 but I honestly thing that was total BS. anyway she's getting her check up. But in the mean time while I'm learning the functions of the forum could anyone be kind enough to link me a threat for a front passenger window that won't go down? (Sorry first forum)

Left sideskirt is a little loose. Give it a whack with your fist, should pop back in its clips.

Window can be numerous things. Jammed scissor, motor, relays, track sliders. Need to pop the doorcard off.

Clips are broken. Ordered them and wait for them in the mail.

Gonna check the window this weekend. It's one of the reasons this top hasn't been down in years.
