    Cam tray camshaft bearing

I noticed that one of the camshaft resting points (whatever you call them) is scored. This is the intake cam tray. Running my finger across it, it is definitely rough. I'm installing new cams to a newly machined head. Can I just use a fine grit paper to smooth? I don't want to leave it as it.

    Thanks!

Fairly common. I use small scotch pad balls for drills to clean mine up. Machine shops will use a fine grit flap wheel.

Thank you. At $450 per tray I was hoping a new tray was not required.

As long as you knock down any peaks that might score the cam bearing journals, it’s fine. Unremovable valleys don’t fuss over.
