Sport steering steering wheel with airbag

    Hi guys. I have a 1998 328 e36 with stock steering wheel.

I do a lot of drifting but doe to our laws I have to keep the airbag wheel on the car. Is there any aftermarket steering wheel with deep dish and airbag that I can mount instead of the oem one? . I really need to bring the wheel closer to me while driving.

    Thank you

    Ben

I think if your state has inspection it would probably be an issue. Also your insurance may have an issue with it as well. Not sure if all providers are like this but I know a friend of mine has a “discount” for a car with airbags. Maybe you’d have to unapply this discount to remain in full compliance with your policy. There’s a higher chance of injury without the airbag, so in the horrible event that you did get injured they might say that the lack of airbag was the cause and not cover your injuries since your policy states that you had an airbag. Really hypothetical here. Not sure if they would care/notice.

Well thank you for your reply. The car use for drifting, going to the track and back

Move the seat forward, and Get the 3-Spoke M-Technic wheel. You will be much more happy

I would say get a small steering wheel and a boss you can remove easily, swap the ***** out at the track. Get a scan tool that can read and clear SRS codes when it's time for inspection. Insurance won't cover you on track regardless, and that way you have the airbag on the streets in case something goes down.
