    Air Pump Solenoid question

I have a question on the air pump solenoid shown as #7 here

    http://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/show...92#11747810831.

I have removed all of the secondary air pump including the 2 vacuum lines that connect to this part. I replaced the headers with long tubes that have no SAP setup. I replaced the SAP with a SIM module and wired up everything. There is one connection from the injector wire harness bus that plugs into this part. As I have also replaced the intake manifold with an M50 manifold, there is no good location to mount this piece.

Anyone know if it is needed? I can cap the 2 vacuum connectors and plug in but it would just have to rest on the manifold and likely rattle around. On the S52 it mounts under the manifold and there is enough space between intake runners to plug in the harness. Not so on the M50.

    Thoughts?

    Thanks!

i just followed the turner instructions and drilled two holes between the runners of 1 and 2...

mine currently is tucked between the fuel rail and manifold ... but if you are going to delete it... then this is not applicable

i have no idea what that does the car... you probably need software to tune that out of the car?

That solenoid is no longer used if your SAP is deleted so I would imagine you can just delete it.

I can help you edit the ecu tune file if it still throws a check engine light.

Thanks Braymond. It does seem redundant. I've capped the SAP vacuum line on the intake manifold. Randy at Epic Motorsports did not remove the SAP from the ECU when they did the tune. He was concerned that it would mess with the emissions testing so he recommended that I use the SIM and leave the ECU SAP alone. I'll see if it throws a code. I think I'm about 6-8 weeks from first start. Thanks again.
