    E36 M3 auto price check

I'm seriously looking for an E36 M3 Auto. I looked at this car and it was a turn key ready to go with stack of maintenance records. Vanos rebuilt, cooling system overhauled with OEM parts, recent suspension system update, there were no leaks! none, not even a seepage, all rubbers and mounts were new, and more. It is very well maintained 2 owners car and low mileage too.

The owner is holding firm at $10.5K.

Kinda hard to gauge the price. What do you guys think? The only reference I have was slightly higher miles at 110K Miles with similar condition for $7.5k at BAT few months ago.

If that was a manual, it would easily be $15K+. If you are looking for a auto , I think it's a very fair deal, IMO. Not a fan of Lux package tho.

You'd be buying that car at (what I think is) the upper end of current value.

That said, as long as you keep it in good condition and take care of it, you'd have a $10.5K vehicle for a couple of years.

I think its depreciation should be near 0 moving forward until it gets to about 150K miles. I think at 150K miles, value would begin to go down by $1.5K for each 25K miles thereafter until it got to about $6000. By then, If it is still running, driving, stuff works and it looks good, it would always be worth $6-7000 to someone.

Some folks would see more benefit in swapping in a manual but if an auto is what you're after, super.

As always, have it checked out by a shop familiar with that car.

      Welcome to the madness...

I think that's a fair price for what looks like a very clean car, especially the interior.

Cars are not investments, they are depreciating assets. If this car ticks all of your boxes, why look further?

It defenetly checked all my boxes other than the lux package and silver. Really want sport package and black/black.

If the car has no paper trails, it’s not worth $10.5K imo, but man this car has all the problematic parts replaced already.

Not planning to do manual swap at this point.

I have confused since your first post says:

Sorry, I was merely saying it to justify the price. I was saying if the car hadn’t came with paper trails, then it wasn’t worth $10.5K. It does have stacks of them.....

              Bad English...😂

That car has been for sale for a bit now so I think that tells you how well priced it is. Other than the Luxury package and auto, it is very striking though.

I’ve watched this for a couple months now. It was $12.5K 2 months ago. The lux and color are not my preference, tough decision. Wanted to get the black/black and sport but nothing close to this car (condition wise).

I wonder if this is more about people looking for a "deal" rather than understanding the true costs of maintaining these cars. Most E36 M3 owners/buyers I know have unrealistic expectations with respect to cost. When people find out how much I spent rebuilding my car they think I am absolutely crazy. All of those pieces as you know add up quickly. Or perhaps there is something hidden/shady about the car.

For the OP, suggest taking a real close look at the records and figure out how much of that recent maintenance is worth to you in time and money. Then compare to comparable cars that don't have that maintenance.

As the previous owner of an M3 auto, I didn't mind it (I am actually psyched to be getting the car back in the near term as my mom drives it and it is in absolutely mint condition and wants something newer). I can also state that an auto-manual swap isn't so bad to do either.

                        .
It was the lux package that gives me the hesitation. I never get up and close at an E36 M car with the lux package, and the more I look at it, the more I feel that the front and side skirt design just don’t look right to me. All of that records are worth it.
