    E36 Chip Upgrades

Hey guys. I was wondering which aftermarket chip upgrades are the best street-legal for the E36 3.2L M3.

    Thanks,

Thanks for responding. Will the Jim C. chips pass CA smog? Does it have a CARB EO #? Also, does anyone here have them on an OBD-II equipped M3?

      Thanks,

      Karl

Don't worry about smog. It retains all OBD-II funtionality/compliance and the difference in emissions is negligible. Perhaps if your cats are somewhat plugged or worn out it could push you over the edge, but you'd probably get a CE before that would happen anyway. - Beau

Thanks for replying Beau. Do you know Jim C's website or the chip? I forgot the URL.

            Thanks,

I've got a Dinan stage 2 that I love. it was installed at the dealership so the ECU is still under warrenty. It is also OBDII.

Think a chip would affect a CPO Bimmer warranty?

                      Probably would help my M3/4A...

'98 m3,ok heres a quick Q on chip i know mine has a chip its way to fast not to, compared to my friends stock m3.

i did an instrument gauge test ( http://www.bmw-m.net/techproc/test.htm ) and the software version was listed as 240 does anyone have a clue who or what chip that is(if that even is info on the chip)? i think its a dinan chip but like i havn't owned it all of its life so i'm not sure, it has a dinan cold air & some chip, & it literally run like whole sec faster on the 1/8mile, compared to my friends stock 98 m3
