97-99 How to tell what original options

I'm Looking into purchasing a 97-99 M3 as a daily driver but have one question. Most Mags. have the M3 running 14.1-14.3 in the 1/4 mile. However I saw an article awhile back where they tested one with the Luxury package and it only ran 15.0. While looking for an M3 how do I make sure the car doesn't have the luxury package with it if the owner doesn't have the original sticker? Olso are there any other options that will either improve or hinder performance. Thanks in advance.

Check to make sure the Quarter Mile time on the Luxury Pkg. M3 had a 5Spd.They may have tested an Auto,Luxury PkghasWdgrain ,Onboard Computer,Different Front Spoiler with no lower Lip,Power Seats,Premium Alloy Rims, Leather, Idon't think there is any difference performance wise, I personally prefer the Luxury version. later

the lux package has power seats and heated seats, I personally think they hinder performance since power and heated seats add about 130 lbs each to the car. Also the lux seats are wider and has no support whatsoever, you will slide around while throwing corners. anyway, just my opinions.

Thanks for the replies. What would be a difinitive way to tell if a M3 has the luxury package? I understand it includes power/heated seats, woodgrain dash, computer, etc. But could these options also have been added to a standard M3?

Get the chassis number, take it to your local dealer, and ask for an original build specification sheet. This will tell you what options were specified by the original owner.
