put a hole in my block!!!

Back in August I was picking up on the freeway in my '95 M3 and the transmission went from 3rd to 2nd instead of 3rd to 4th. Hard to say if I was totally at fault or not, I read a lot about that happening to the '95's. But I'm past that. I replaced the 3.0L with a 97' 3.2L. Now I plan to have Dinan put in a cold air intake & a stage 2 performance chip. What specs should I give the people at Dinan? Also in the long run will there be any damage done to the car now that a slightly bigger engine is inside?

How can the transmission be at fault? as it is a manual (stick) gearbox, the driver has control of what gear he/she puts it in. There is a rev limiter fitted on the cars to prevent the driver from over revving the engine, but this only restricts upward changes, not down changes, hence the 3 to 2 problem.

The new engine is not physically longer than the original, just an increase in cc, so there should be no damage that can be done unless you count originality in that. Did you replace the gearbox as well during the swap, or have you retained the original?

Gearbox is still the same. I read that the only way to really insure that from happening again is to throw in a short shift kit. But now with the S52, what type of chip should I ask for?
