Question about installing a OBC Please help

I have a On Board Computer installed in my 97 M3 sedan which only has 1 row of settings that can be used. The Bently Service manual calls my unit a Check Control/ambient temperature/clock unit.

I recently purchased the 2 row Multi Unit Display otherwise known as the On Board Computer according to the Bently service manual.

When I went to install the OBC I noticed that it has 2 plugs that must be connected to it. A black plug and a white plug. When I pulled out my old unit it only has 1 black plug. I looked around in the compartment for the white plug but didn't see one.

So my question is this: Does my car have the 2nd white plug inside of it and if so where is it located?

    Can anyone help me?

I was told a few years ago that the E36 without the OBC has a different wiring harness than the E36 with a OBC. Doing the wiring yourself is said to be very difficult and probably not worth it. I had this same dilemma on my '95 325is a few years ago, my bet is the same applies to the E36 M3.

I just purchased the OBC for my car and would like to do the switch. I have surfed Google and found a forum where a guy explains that you have to add 6 wires, move 2 current ones around, and add a new temperature gauge. Does anyone know what the exact procedures are?

      Thanks for your input.

If you figure it out, let me know. I have an OBC that only shows the date and Time, and anything that is wrong with the car. I would love to have the outside temp.
