I've seen a web site with a guy rigging up a tool to reset the oil service light. Does anyone know which website it is or does anyone know what to do? Thanks for the help.

This might help you........but be advised.....I havn't done this myself....and i wouldn't recomend it......I would say just go out and buy a reset tool for but if you wanna save some money you could try this........just be carefull......and I wouldn't do it unless someone else on this forum replys and says they did it and it worked......there was another post about this and they guy couldn't figure it out........I think he stopped after someone mentioned that the procedure he was using was completely wrong and his car shouldn't be starting...
Here's the site I found on Yahoo......
http://www.unofficialbmw.com/e36/electrical/e36_reset_service_lights.html
Here's another site, doesn't show how to reset but it's pretty cool....
http://home.att.net/~ebaines/e36_instruments.htm
Heres where you can buy the reset tool.....there's 2 available...1 allows you to only reset the oil light and it's bout 35 bucks the other is an oil service light reset tool with a fault reader so when you get a check engine light it'll tell you why and that runs for bout 150 bucks.......
http://www.bavarianautosport.com/shop.asp
On the left menu click on Tools&Manuals&Fluids......then TOOLS and you should see both(I would post the exact links but the sites not working right now but it probably will be tomorrow)
Good luck and let us know what happens:thumbsup:

Guys, my friend made his own reseting tool and helped me reset the oil service light. The total cost of the tool, <$3. The important thing is you locate the right pin (pin #7). Your key should be in the radio ON position. Ground it for about 5 seconds. Turn off the radio and turn it on again to see the lights, should be now reset.
