What do you guys think of this one?

I'm looking at buying my first M3. Here is what it looks like:

    1997 Coupe, 5spd, 67K miles, luxury pkg: $22K.

Carfax report on it is clean. I haven't seen it yet (it's 300 miles away), but sounds like it's clean and sounds drives great.

    What do you guys think?

It looks like only the necessary maintenance was done on it. What can I expect to change and spend (approx) over the next 30K miles in maintenance (shocks, brakes, etc...)?

Thanks again for all your input.

    Marc

Great buy, I got mine for $23k about 9 months ago at 64k miles. So your's sounds about right, and greetings fellow H-townian.

As for maintenance, I haven't done anything but oil changes.....I am at 72k miles. Be prepared to buy a "reset/diagnostic" tool; comes in handy for oil changing; actually you need it.

I got mine for the same price with similar mileage +options about a month ago. I don't how good the car sounds on paper, always take it to a local (reputable shop) and have it checked out. My guy found several things wrong with mine (paint, lower valence, bent rims, worn rotors) which I used as bargaining points.

I held out till the guy replaced all of those (with the exception of the paint) and threw in a 4yr./60K mile extended warranty.

Also, have all the fluids replaced as soon as you get your hands on it. I don't care when they say they were last replaced.

That seems like a good price. granted there's nothing major wrong w/ the car. i got mine a few months back at $23K when it was only 52K miles. not only that but it came w/ the mods you see in my sig which all were done less than 6 months from the time the car was bought.

Got mine in November with everything below 60K miles

For 19K I know I got a steal but there out there. Go Private Get the car checked out and you can get a loan from peoplefirst.com for 6.8% you no longer have to buy from a dealer if you don't have cash. Good luck. Car sounds good though.

          Merry Christmas

I dont think 67k is alot for this car but i think you can find one with less miles for the same price, i would hold out for the 40-50k miles. I paid 23000 for a 97 sedan with 42000 miles on it and the car was in very good shape. I would hold out or only offer him 19000 for it, he might bite and if he dosnt you will find a better deal, you always do when it comes to cars.
