Ok, so I drive a 99 M3 and I love it a lot. It's the best all around car, but the nsx just looks sooo sweet. The m3 looks sweet too, but a red nsx looks like a true sports car. How fast are nsx's? Since I have a 99 w/27K I would be looking at early models of the nsx. Come on guys, help out and change my mind for even thinking of getting rid of my M3:help: .

i'm not sure if i would trade a 99 for an 91-92 car. also, do you ever use your rear seats? the insurance should be considerable higher to i would think. and the alum. body also bothers me....any kind of fender bender could total the car. but if i was to change cars, nsx would surely be on my want list.

NSX?????????????What the **** are you thinking.......haha...... naaa just kidding........if that's what you want it's what you want.....but the specs on the NSX arent that impressive.....the 1/4 miles like a 13.5.........sure it looks more sporty but you can make the M better with a body kit if that's what your looking for.......but it's up to you............stay with the M.

is it a daily driver? because if it will be your gonna lose the day to day fun factor that the M3 has , the nsx`s powerband or vtec kicks in at like 6gs which is 60 in 2nd gear but 90 in third so u really wont have the cars potenial showing up daily unless u like tickets ......m3 is much torquier (sp)
but if its not , then i too love the NSX so i say

I see your point about the NSX looking like a balls out sports car as opposed to the M3's subtle touches, but there was a recent article in some magazine (Road and Track, MotorTrend, or Car and Driver) that was praising how great the NSX was. There are people out there who put like 80k+ miles on those things. That is amazing to me because it is an Exotic...more or less. I would say it is, but some people would complain and say it's not fast enough blah blah blah. You'd definately get more looks in it. It's a pretty noticeable car. My friend's mom had one. She sold it because she kept blowing tires somehow.
In the article, and I would suggest finding it if you can...go to the lbrary and see if they have backlogs, it said that they are relatively low maintenance and very durable. Good daily drivers oddly enough.
It was a really interesting article. I wish that I could tell you more, but when I know that I will not be buying a certain car for a long time, then I figure don't pay really close attention.
In the end though, I'd still question buying a really old car like that even if it has Honda/Acura's reliability. Lord knows how the previous owner drove that thing too. It isn't a car you buy to drive lightly in.
I'd keep your BMW for practicality sake. If your M3 is just for fun now, sure trade it, but for day to day use, I'd want the M3 hands down.

My brother has a 95 NSX and it's a sweet car. Stats I have seen are around 5 sec to 60 and mid 13's for 1/4 mile. Of course you could put in $9K for a Comptech supercharger that would give you 400hp! Personally, I don't think the NSX get the respect it deserves. I will agree that it is over-priced but hey many people think the M3 is over-price too. Anyway, if you do get an NSX, I would look for at least a 93' or later model. I forgot what it was but I read somewhere that the 92' & 91' had some minor problems. Definately test drive one before you decide to get rid of your M3 though.

Car and driver wrote a phenominal article on the best handling car. They broke the article into two price ranges above and below 30k. The October 1997 article pitted the M3 up against very formitable foes including:
A Ferarri 355, Porshe Boxter, Corvett (Z51), Viper GTS, Supra Turbo, Porsche 911 Turbo, and an Acura NSX.
The article is linked below... Of course, the M3 Beat them all!!!
