$2500 for the turbo kit! that a steal, wish I knew about it before I spend $16k with labor for my turbo. I got everything required together. OBD II Kits, AA light weight flywheel, AA high performance clutch, rear toe bushing and a UCC short shifter. I got screw on the labor, cause it was done by BMW dealer. The service manager is a personal friend of mine. some friend.

when u turbo a car you need to lower the compression not increase it like you said. That's because when you compress the air before feeding it to the cylinder, the piston goes down to compress the air further. Feeding that air with fuel will actually make it combust before the spark plug fires, a phenomenon called "knock". So when u turbo a car you want to "lower the compression the piston makes" so when u add the fuel it won't combust before the spark plug fires.

I agree. A compression ratio of 13:1 is INCREDIBLY high for a turbo engine, thats high even for a NA engine. You'd want a CR of about 10:1 through 9:1 for a turbo engine, then you can up the boost and not detonate.

yes, thats true...however this thread is nearing 9 months old and i really dont think that the kit he spoke of ever existed. Notice it never was brought back to life..however i applaud your use of the archives...almost no one on here looks up the archives..thanks for taking the time. a metal head gasket would most likely be used to lower comp as that is the method used by aa, perhaps he was confused.

I understand the compression needs to be lowered when routing to FI. Im on the same level as you guys on questions on what and why he did what he did.....I'm still wondering if the car is still up and running after this time....keep this thread up and i'll check back on this.
I don't have much interest in a turbo cause I am anti-FI.
But just to keep you guys updated I'll check up on it.
