Well, after waiting 4.5 months and making countless phone calls, my UUC System U exhaust finally arrived. UUC recently changed the hanging method (and laser etched their name on the exhaust tips) - and due to some poor planning regarding supply and demand, caused customers like me to wait 4.5 months. Anyway, I installed the system the day after it arrived, and I must say, I'm pretty disappointed!!
My complaint is with the fit of the system to my car. If you compare the stock vs. the aftermarket exhaust, you'd notice that the exhaust tips exit the mufflers at a different angles - thus, the aftermarket tips exit my M3 (from the lower spoiler exhaust notch) at a different than stock angle. So instead of the exhaust tips going straight through the spoiler notch, they go through at an angle...causing the tips to come close to touching the lower spoiler on the passenger side (near where the tips exit the muffler), and on the drivers side (as the tips exit the lower spoiler).
Obviously, I'm less than thrilled with the cosmetics (like most M3 owners who buy these products, I expect them to be as good or better than stock) - and having a .25" gap on one side and a 1" gap on the other side of my exhaust vs lower spoiler is REALLY disappointing. I was devestated when my first "car" friend looked at it and asked why it wasn't centered.
But even more importantly, I'm a concerned with how close the tips are to my plastic spoiler!
Incidentally, I actually did follow the directions (which were worthless and filled with spelling errors) - and they didn't work at all...I had to rig up something to shim my exhaust over just to get it to fit at all.
Can any other UUC exhaust owners provide me any feedback? Was the old hanging method any better?
Since you're probably wondering, it does sound good...a little louder than I expected, but with the wonderful WI weather this time of year, it's really not broken in yet.
Sorry so long, but for $600+ shipping - I think this product missed the mark by a mile.
