    Auto to Manual?

Hello all, I have just bought a 95M3 for DAM CHEAP but its automatic and I'm a manual stick shifting driver, only reason I picked up this automatic M3 because the price was a STEAL! want to know how much of a steal? 55K original miles $15k out the door, loaded. but enough bout that... Is it possible to convert from automatic to manual on a 95 E36 M3 coupe? how much would it cost? would this be a good idea and would it perform the same as if i was to buy a normal M3 which is manual? hopefully someone can answer these questions or give me some thoughts about it, because M3 is a sports car and I WANT MY 5 SPEED! =)

Just a thought...since you bought yours for DAM CHEAP, why don't you just sell it for more. Good luck!

In short , you can not convert it for any reasonable amt of $. IMO you should install a shift kit and I am not sure but there may be some remapping of the ECU as well to give your auto some more aggressive shifting.

They have been converted many times over... you should be able to find a shop that can do it out in CA. Down here AA has done many conversions, mostly on cars prior to being Turboed...

anybody know a rough estimate of the total cost of converting the auto to manual m3? if it were around 3-4k, it would sound very appealing!

im going to agree with evanston eddie, i dont think its worth the headache, u might as well just sell the car for more and find a 5spd

i dont think it is worth it, but if you do, get a 96-99 euro m3 6spd. that would be really sweet. there are a lot of parts that need to be changed, plus you have to re-do your interior to move the pedals to get the clutch in there. it would probably be cheaper to sell yours and buy a sitck. good luck
