Purple99M3,
Having trouble finding the adapter, or having trouble getting it to work? My wife found the adapter at a game store at a mall. When she was buying it, they said it was the only one they had... It had come in that day. So it seems that it is a rare find. Keep looking.
One interesting thing is that the network adapter has an IDE hard drive interface built into it... So once you get it, you are closer to getting the hard drive option. Maybe I'll do that and try out PS2 Linux.
Hooking up the interface was quite easy, just unplug the box and shove the thing into place and tighten the screws with a quarter.
I'm a network guy, so I was concerned that I may have trouble connecting to the ATV gaming network from behind my NAT/DHCP firewall. The adapter quickly configured itself via DHCP and I was ready to go. So the verdict is, no problems with firewalls.
One thing was a little disappointing, when joining a game hosted by someone else... If the host isn't winning, she may opt to prematurely end the game, and you have to find another game to join.

yeah im just having trouble finding the adapter.. plus i want to get SOCOM.. now with that game there is a problem with some firewalls.. its wierd.. you can play on the network, but you can't talk to ur other players.. nor hear what they say.. kinda bizzare.. but yeah... i just need to find it.. i was told that some other network cards work using the USB out front.. but there is a certain frequency that must be used.. and i haven't been able to find any of them either.. so im pretty much screwed..

Yes, if you have a NAT style firewall, only one "internal" host can recieve UDP packets. And you have to manually choose which one ahead of time. UDP (as opposed to TCP) is what they typically use for voice data. If/when you get it, ask me again, and I can help you get the voice part to work with your firewall... presuming you own/administer your own firewall.

i administer my own firewall.. i have SBC DSL.. and the modem that was given to me does not have a built in firewall.. so i should be good to go once i get a network card for the PS2... i have my router and network set for whenever i am able to get ahold of one.. its just a matter of time now.. and i can't wait.. what games do you have to play online other than ATV 2
