Looking for the best cold air intake for the buck, notice AA is having a holiday sale, their cold air intake setup is only 289, plus the AA OBD1 software is 175. would i need anything else? i have a stock m3, how much HP am i gaining? is K&N that bad? i know dinan uses it to. is installation that hard? i saw the instruction they LOOK simple. any suggestions? or should i wait for Conforti? o and with this setup, would it be ok to get the dinan automatic transmission software? is it compatible? does any other companies making automatic software? sorry for the questions, thanks for reading.

i think the intakes are just preference.. i kinda like the JC because its easier to clean.. i mean hell its a spunge.. then the software you wanna keep with like companies..
The tranny software should work with either company.. all it does is changes the shift points... for both the manual shift or the auto.. do you have the manual shift on yours?? i thought that all came with it.. also what year is your car

the car's a 95, it does have the manual mode. how much HP gain am i getting with the AA cold air intake + software? is it like dinan with 261hp?
also the transmission software doesnt increase HP correct? just accelerates faster right?
after i get these 3 things, what should be next on my mod list? i was thinking UUC exhaust.
i just want to hit 300HP, is this achievable? without spending outrageous money?

the tranny chip will allow the shifts to be at later rpms... it will raise the shiftpoints.. therefore when you slam on the gas in auto, it will knock it down faster and u will always have a high rpm.. my bro got it on his 325ic.. its pretty nice.. much better than before.. those numbers are probably right.. but never expect the given approximation.. its all guess and chekc.. every car responds differently.. im just lucky my car responded the way i wanted it to.. more power... luvly... hope that helps

So if you are going to shark an OBD II car and install the JC intake on a 97 M3 Auto, I would need the tranny chip? What happens if I don't get the tranny chip? Or is there a tranny chip/software for the OBDII? OR, can I just get the tranny chip and not the intake and shark. Dang, lots of questions....

ok.. haha.. first 00poop - there should be no problem using the software with the JC setup.. because it doesn't change anything within the comp with regards to the software.. thats why you have to disconnect the auto wires... but heres what it says for the OBD II... Stage 1 Transmission Software raises shift points in both " Economy" and "Sport" modes for faster acceleration. Stage 2 Transmission Software adds firmer and quicker shifting to the Stage 1 software, further improving acceleration, as well as providing enhanced transmission reliability.. so basically.. it can't hurt..
for Az1aN.. heres what it says about OBD I.. Performance Transmission chip for automatics optimizes shift points in the "Sport" and "Economy" modes for improved acceleration and driveability. The performance chips are 50 State Emissions Legal*.
Dinan performance chips are supplied with detailed instructions and are user installed in about an hour. can't hurt.. only help.. now the Intake.. if you really wanna get rid of the K&N, u can get an ITG filter.. you might wanna make sure it fits first.. or a JC CAI.. i wouldn't doubt you can powder coat them.. if you can powder coat a lightbulb.. u can defnitly powder coat the heatshield..
