I'm new to M3 and the car I bought it with a Dinan CAI kit. Looks like there is now no airbox am I correct in this? If not I read about a baffle removal proceedure that will get a few more pony's?
your stock airbox is replaced with the cold air intake.....your engine only needs one source of air intake and if its not the factory airbox it's gonna be your dinan cold air intake......so no need to mess with any airbox............your cia is giving more power then you could have gotten with the airbox anyways so I wouldnt worry about it:thumbsup:
PS.......does the dinan set up come with a heat shield?
Crazy Not sure on the heat sheild. i'll check if not I know the benifits of having them where can I get them or better yet can I make my own? It's made of carbon fiber and that runs pretty kool.
you can make your own but it's hard because you wanna use somthing thick to keep out the hot air and that's gonna be hard to shape..........active autowekes makes one but I think it only comes with the cia package..........you might wanna email them and see if you can buy the heat shield seperate......but then I'm not sure if it will work with the dinan set up.......good luck let us know what you decide:thumbsup:
I don't think the Dinan system uses a heat shield because of its location behind and down below the drivers headlight... I thought the kit includes a different brake cooling duct which is the pick up point for the CAI. The ones I've seen didn't use heat shields like the Conforti or the Active Autowerks (Which place the filter directly behind the light).
