Stomp on a Dodge Viper GTS

This is a story that had to be told.

Last year I had the AA OBD II install on my 99 M3 coupe. One week after i had it installed while waiting at the light a blue Viper GTS pull aside me and reving his engine at me, the driver mid 30th wanted to race me. I wanted to take an easy on my new turbo, broke it in first. So I didn't want to race him.

A month later we meet again, this time when he rev his engine I rev my. He was laughing at me, when the light turn green I take him by surprise and i was about 3 car in front of him and he was still in my rear view mirrow. Later about a mile he caught up to me at a red light and was piss off!!and want to race again. I shout at him "no thank, one per customer" I told him and smiled. He follow next to me for almost 2mile reving his motor, playing with me.

Then finaly at a red light I told him "bring it on"I wasn't really going to race him again I got luck once I don't want to push it. So I play with him until the light turn green. My V1 was going off like crazy in front of me and in all direction. As the light turn green he take off like a bat out hell! His car fish tailed and he lost control and jump the curb and hit the guard rail. He really F***! up his car bad, I drove pass him and told myself "hoollly S***!! Second later there were cops coming from all direction, I didn't want to stick around so I left.

Few day later at a Block Buster a few guy walk up to me and say "you the guy who smoke that VIPER! I guess the new got out, but I kinda didn't want to stick around and brag. I did leave a sean of an accident. I didn't want any cops looking for me. Some how the new got to my work as well and several people were telling me about it. So I stay low for awhile.

It was great thought, I got Lucky and smoke a VIPER GTS and make a fool out of him.

BTW did I mention my 99 BMW M3 coupe has over 400hp on the tap. It was a good feeling.

It's nice to have all that power under your feet, but if you don't use it often, it a waste. I very often drive my car and how often can a person really use it power, especially during winter andvthere stop light every 1/8 mile where I live, and the cops are all pig here. They will alway try to find an excuse to give you a ticket.

I got it because I been wanted one since I bought my 98 m3 sedan. It was in an accident 6 month after I bought it in Aug. 97. (snow & icy road of course).

Now that I got it i wish I could spend it on something else. Imagine what $16k of mod & parts can do your car. :banghead:

ya . . . i understand where ur getting at

that is a hell of a lot of money for a turbo setup . . .

got a follow up question, r u still running stock internals? or do new internals come part of the turbo kit? also, did they require u buy a big brake package like their disclaimed said? and, has handling changed at all? have u done any suspension mods at all to the car? (sorry for all the questions, just that this has been my only oppurtunity to actually talk to someone with any say on the AA turbo)

i bet it really must be pretty satisfying tho to run a sleeper e36 like that . . .

With the turbo install it run like stock. I put about 4k mile on it, I had no problem so far. Total mile on the car is 28k. You can't tell it there until you floor it. In mid july it run alittle slow in traffic but in Dec. It run great. when idel I sometime forget it still running.

Only engine mod I did was a high compression metal head gasket, biger fuel injector, biger trottle body, mass air and a high flow fuel pump.

Suspension is H&R sport spring and Bilstein strut & shock. Also AA front & rear stress bar, lower x-brace and AA rear toe bushing. as for the big brake, they recommaned it but I just do Brembo front & rear x-drilled, ebc green pads, and ss brake lines. That more that enough stoping power for me.

I have the same kit as Turbo///M3.

OBD2 turbo setup, AA Lightweight Flywheel, AA High Performance Clutch kit, AA Water injection, HKS Klasse Catback exhaust. H&R Coilovers. Low boost setting 7psi, high boost setting 9psi. I use 10psi with race fuel.

Car from the outside is bone stock with the exception of the clear lenses. The kit comes with larger injectors, software, external wastegate, boost controller, turbo timer, and a boost gauge.

I'm also running on stock internals with the stock compression ratio of 10.5:1. I have 77k miles on the engine now and the turbo kit was installed at 59k on 12/01.

I have plenty of pictures of my M3 and would gladly email them to you if interested.

I did about 60% of the installation and an employee at AA did the welding and assisted me. Installation and dyno tune was done at AA Tuning.
