I want to know where this 270 number came from. According to my manual, every oyher piece of literature from BMW, and all the research I've done the 3.2L engine is still making only 240hp plus or minus. Has anyone got anything confirmed they can post to show this as true?

I wasn't going to say anything but I was thinking the exact thing as you guys were... anyway from everything I've heard and see the documented HP for the 1995 E36 M3 OBD I 3.0L I6 S50 AND the 1996-1999 E36 M3 OBD II 3.2L I6 S52 all were rated at 240 HP so I was also wondering where the 270 HP figure came from...

I think the HP figure was guesstimating... w/ all the mods you list I'm sure your car probably is putting down some decent power but as to how much.. unless you get it dyno tested no one knows for sure... you can't say an intake makes XX HP based on the manufacturer claims.. and the S/C makes XX HP based on the manufacturer claims.. then add the numbers together to get your HP... it doesn't work that way... plus the HP figures the manufacturer claims can be varied in so many ways..

ex. the "stock" intake figure the aftermarket part manufacturer claims could be tested on a hot motor on a hot day... while they test their "performance" intake on a cold day, w/ a fan blowing on the motor, and giving it every other advantage to minupulate the dyno figures to make it look like their product is making HUGE HP gains over stock.... the test car which they put their product on could have had other mods in addition to the part their selling while the car they use for the baseline could be bone stock...

to get your true HP you'd have to dyno test your car.. I'm still curious as to how you came about w/ the 445 HP figure... was it just adding all the manufacturer claims together? or was it what your tuner shop estimated/told you? or what?

not trying to be a **** but I like everyone else just wants to know where the #'s came from..

Well, my car with Rear Wheel Horse Power is about 405-420hp. My car is 1/2 off the ground with shocks added in so there is not problem when I start off. The reason why my engine is 270hp with the 3.2L is because I got the E36 99 M3 engine, that is the only engine with the 3.2L 270hp from 96-98 is the 3.2L with 240hp.

EUROSPORT, where did you buy your car from? Canada, is it a EURO Spec M3. If it is just a standard US Spec M3 then the dealer you bought it from lied to you, case closed. All 96-99 US M3's have 240 HP. Now, with the mods you have done, I bet you are around 350-370 HP, which is a very nice number that all of us would love to have. I am jealous of your FI.

However, even AA twin turbo system can not produce much more than 425 HP on race gas. So unless you have an M3 with a different engine than the UNITED STATES M3, I don't see your engine really getting more than 350 HP or so.

Now, with that being said, go get a DYNO and prove us wrong.

EDIT: After reading that you did a 3.0 to 3.2 conversion, did you keep OBD I or upgrade to OBD II? If you kept OBD I on a 3.2 engine, then with the EURO HFM, 270, while a lot may not be quite out of the question. We still need a DYNO

unless I am reading the post wrong (above/previous post).. it implies that the 95 OBD I 3.0L I6 S50 and the 96-98 OBD II 3.2L I6 S52 have 240 HP.. however it states (in previous post) only the 99 w/ the SAME OBD II 3.2l I6 S52 has 270HP..for stock figures/before any mods...

all the data I've seen for E36's have said the all have 240 HP... are you saying that the HP rating was understated and that it actually puts out 270?

here are some stock figures from 3 diff sources...

my bentley manual says that all 96+ E36 and later M3 w/ S52 had 240 HP

                  Eurosport:

Why in your pictures is your car right-hand drive? Is this why you have a different motor than us b/c u got a euro-spec motor? I'm still trying to figure out why you have 270hp when others that have the '99 have only a rated 240hp. Could u clarify this for us?

                  :???:

the motor that put out 286 crank hp stock on the m3 was the obdI s50b30 euro-spec motor . . .

eurosport, to put it bluntly, how do u have the space to keep pulling all these numbers out of ur ass?

if he had it dyno'ed end of story . . . there could not be anymore controversy over the matter

but i doubt someones going to back up hp claims just to silence an internet forum

ok ok ok.. hey hey now. be nice..

audioman.. the AA turbo on an OBD I can definitly churn 450rwhp.. but the ? is can it turn it on the M3.. i doubt it on the M because of the compression being so high.. i could have sworn i read some where that an E36 3 series was putting out 600hp to the crank (or alittle more).. but it would probably turn around 500rwhp.. that would be nuts.. i think i like my M NA.. it shows the true performance and engineering of the German market..
