an s54 brand new out the box is about $20k right now, the only reason i know is there was a thread a while back about blown s54 motors and the "blowers" of these engines quoted some prices they heard from BMWAG

i wouldnt be able to help u with used engines, im pretty sure on ebay they have a few wrecked e46 m3s, they usually go for 10k or under so u might get a steal if the engine is salvagable :thumbsup:

Owner of a 445 hp E36 M3

I was just wondering... why would you want to replace your e36 M3 engine making 445 hp (not sure if that is crank or rear wheel horsepower), with one that makes "only" 333hp.

If that 445hp is power to the wheels, what would be the reasoning in wanting to put an engine that makes around 280ish in it's place???

445hp?! if that's at the crank then you're doing 360+ at the wheels.

But I think I know where you're heading with this....E46 engine with a supercharger....if they have one....hopefully you'll hit 400hp at the wheels...crazy!

I like the double VANOS on the E46 that is why I wanted to see how much it would cost to get it added in. I'm still not sure if I want to go through with this. Since I got a 6 speed manual transmission might as well try it out and see what happens
