Noob here...Yeah, got an automatic:sleeping: '95 M3. It was cheaper than the manuals are, and the miles are starting to get a bit high anyway... Anyone know what it would take and cost to convert the AT to a MT, and if I can change to a manual...I might as well make it into a 6-speed if possible. Any knowledge out there as to whether or not a 6-speed is available for the 95 m3, and would the conversion be more difficult than a 5-speed.

It can and has been done several times. However you will pay more to do this mod, then if you just bought the manual in the first place. Auto's go for $2-$3 grand less than the manual, but you will probably pay over $4 grand to do the swap. If you want a manual that badly, see if you can sell your car for at least what you paid for it, then get what you wanted to begin with.

it doesnt cost over 4 grand to do the job
if you want the simple way, you can get a full 5 speed conversion kit from zionsvilleautosport.com for $2000, and spend about 600-800 on the labor, thats less than 3000
keep in mind that that is the expensive route, its much much cheaper if you just go to a junkyard and get the parts yourself
basically im gonna do this whenever my auto tranny fails, so for now im having fun doin neutral drops from 6k rpm!

If i were you i would just sell my auto and buy a manual . It should not be hard at all to sell your car but buying the manual in the first place was the best thing to do. I can understand that you wanted to save the extra 2000-3000 grand, but now you are gonna spend it anways for the conversion.

I was under the impression that he wanted the euro 6-speed kit, which costs more than the 5-speed tranny. You will also get a used tranny and if it is not refurbished, you really don't know what kind of condition it is.
Afterwards, you could probably sell your 5-speed tranny to help recoup some of the costs, but it will still be cheaper to just sell your car and get the 5-speed.

Thanx for your help, but let's just say I want the euro six. I would want to convert the 5-speed to that anyway. Now you may see my thinking a bit clearer. I now see that a conversion to the stock 5-speed would be pointless to do, but would it cost less to do the swap the euro-six for the AT or get the MT and then do the switch...and my savings for getting the AT was a bit less than 4,000, so now you see what I was thinking.
