    ONE TUNER??? anyone

Are there any One tuner guys out there?? I came

from the VW family for about 10yrs of my driving

exprience. People use to go crazy if you had a part

outside the "ONe tuner" especially names like...

ABT....Dinan/RD use to be the names I heard a lot with the

    BMW community.

I never thought one tuner could do everything, but

    some people did.

Anyway are these guys still around??? Or did the power

and price of all the comp change the game??

Actually I have a race coming up with a friend who has

a 330I with dinan, this and that.. everytime we talk he

goes into knowbody is better than dinan...I dont argue, because

I know he's a "ONe Tuner" type of guy..'

The only time I could understand this would be if someone went AA turbo and just had them add all of their other performance products. Otherwise, no. I know my car has a little bit from just about every BMW tuner out there. Well, except RDSport I guess. And probably a few others I can't think of. :\

There is no one "tuner" in the BMW world. Just as much as there isn't ONE tuner in any other market - that's called competition.

In BMW land, there are different tiers of parts suppliers, engineer/tuners, software resellers, race shops, engine shops, etc.

You need to understand WHAT you want to do before you understand WHO you want to go do it with.

For example, we know the lighting market very well for E36s and many other models, Bavarian and BMP know the parts business very well, whereas some companies like Turner Motorsport are able to do a blended tuner/retailer model.

It just depends on WHAT you want to do...o yeah...already said that

Age has nothing to do with it.

It's the fact that advertising has everything to do with it.

If you're top dog, you charge top dog prices, and you are able to advertise more. Dinan has simply been around longer and made more money so they advertise more. But many firms are equal to them in engineering and are slowly making more and more noise.

I'm not really trying to point towards the tuner, more

            the actual person.

I only said Dinan, because the guy I know only uses

dinan. He always say's to me.. "You only should buy dinan"

I laugh and let him talk. I just wanted to know if there

            were still people like him.

I hear you, because I - only brought my M3 because of the

            different tuners:thumbsup:

for me I don't care what brand it is as long as it does what its supposed to well..after some research if the product fits the bill (gives good gains, good quality, feasable price, fits my needs, good reviews, etc)... ..

if a part is dyno proven to make the most power, is affordable, made of quality components, fits well w/o a lot of hassle/modification, and if its an emissions type part.. if its CARB EO'd (since I live in CA and HAVE TO get smog check to renew my tags) then I'll buy it regardless of brand and could care less if I have a mix of brands as long as I think it fits the bill and satisfies the above constraints..

planning my parts purchases and researching I'm ok w/ having a mix of Dinan (CAI), JC (shark injector/ecu upgrade), UUC (exhaust system), Hawk (brake pads), Brembo (brake rotors), Bridgestone (tires), and BMW OEM (X-brace).... so I'm not a "one tuner" type person.. I buy whatever I think is best for my needs/situation and amount of money spent... I don't like cheap/low quality parts though...

I had a decent amount of parts from different manufacturers on my previous car (non-bmw/integra gsr).. to name a few.. Koni, Eibach, Brembo, Hawk, Goodridge, PIAA, Turbonetics, NGK, Greddy, Bridgestone, SSR, Neuspeed, HKS, etc list went on and on... and my car audio was a mix of Alpine, PPI, Phoenix Gold, and Infinity... if I were a one tuner type person then I'd have all Mugen or Spoon parts.. which like Dinan are $$$...
