Ahhh! So I could replace this amp with a higher current, five channel one. Well, as long as it fits in the space! This is very good news. Thanks!

Not really. The factory amp has a built in crossover for every speaker in your car. Unlike what people would rather have, the crossover is not at the speaker. So if you put a new amp in there, then you will probably blow half of your speakers unless you somehow figured out the exacty frequency they are crossed over at.

With a BMW, you can either just put a new head unit in and a sub in the trunk, or replace everything including factory amps. There really is no in between.

Ahhh! I see. Well, so much for that idea. I guess I'll just get the new head unit and formulate another plan. At least my stock system sounds pretty good. Thanks for the info!

Put a typical cap on the tweeter and let the mid basses play full range; as for that speaker right below the tweeter--i don't use that, but if you did cross it over for voice (800Khz - 4Khz, really it won't hurt it playing treble either. Works for me, been over two years already; no trouble. Bass is what distorts the smaller speakers and then heats up the voice coil. Putting treble into the mid basses won't hurt.
