Reseting Oil Light HELP

I can't seem to get the oil inspection light to reset. I left a paper clip in 7 and 19 and nothing resets? Is there a trick? I dont want to leave it in to long because i guess that would reset the inspection light. what should i do? I have to drive to Chicago tonight and want to fix it before that trip. Thanks.

make sure you turn the key to position II (but don't start the car) before you do it.

Stick the paper clip into holes......get into your car and turn the key to position II (but don't start the car) ...

get out of the car and remove the paper clip (while the key is in position II).....then check your dash for the lights...

they should all be showing....

I did this a couple of months ago...and it worked...



as a last resort....I live in berwyn, which is a suburb of chicago..(about 15 mins away).....I have the code reader/maint. reset tool...so I could probably help you out.:thumbsup:

Inspection is for 10+ seconds. The lights should have come back, they are for service in general. Something like the first time they go out it says oil service, second time inspection I, third time oil service again and fourth time inspection II. I'm not sure if there is a difference between reseting for Inspection I and II.

best way is to ground pin seven for about 6 seconds for oil inspection and 12 seconds for service, i ground mine to the neg termial, works perfect everytime...
