    M3 vs. M3 vs. M3!!!

well today i went about 20 miles outside of town onto some of pennsylvania's usually deserted twisty back roads. I came to a stop sign and from my right, over a hill, two e36 M3's flew by me! So obviously i turned and followed them. The one out in front was hellrot red and the one right in front of me was a little darker than my car...probably arctic silver. Anyway, for about a good half hour, us 3 e36 M3's tore up Pennsylvania's twisty back roads. Cant say ive ever had more fun in a car in my life!

I think the red one may have been pretty heavily modded. He definitely had an aftermarket exhaust of some sort and would always pull away pretty hard from the Arctic and my Titanium. Anyway, after about 35 min, we came to a town and they got on the highway and i headed home.

On my way home, i came across a black e39 M5 with some woman driving, but she didnt want to have fun

either way, i love this freakin car!

I live in the Lehigh Valley area and I know what you mean about the back country/twisty roads. I've never had the pleasure of tearing it up with another E36 like you did, but it sounds like fun. Do you know of any clubs in the area? I would love to get together with others who LOVE the same car!

I have an estoril blue convertable (99) and my husband has a 528. When my son starts driving in a few years, I'm giving him mine and I'm buying a brand spankin new M3 for myself. I might even go to Germany to pick it up just so I can be the first one to drive it!!

Maybe we'll meet on the road sometime!

Wait, you mean you drove with them for 35 minutes and they never stopped to find out who you were? Weird, and too bad. :???:

Let me know if anything goes down in eastern PA. Im originally from the King of Prussia area and went to school at Lehigh University so I know what you mean about back roads, just watch out for the stones left over from rock salting.

I know exactly what you mean about the rocks...I've got chips in my hood from the most recent snow. But, would you rather have your M3 and not drive it in the winter because it might get chipped, or drive it all the time? I would personally drive it all the time. In my opinion, the M3 is a car to be driven, appreciated and used, and not just to sit in a garage. That's the Z3, not the M3. Just my opinion though.

I've been talking to some others on another thread about getting together. I'll pass that info along when I get home (at work right now). Getting together with other M3 owners would be a blast....and probably scare the crap out of all those 330i drivers in the LV!!

Does anyone else here agree that an M3 owner is a different kind of BMW owner? Like, (I've had one myself) the 5 series drivers are stuffy soccer moms, the 3 series drivers just think they are "cool" because they are driving a BMW, but the M owners I meet are all just down to earth and totally appreciate their car. I love my car because of the beauty, power and handling, not to mention people's reaction to it. But I'm not stuck up or stuffy about it and neither are the other M owners I've met. Anyone have any opinions on this? I LOVE MY CAR!!!!

I meant with the rock-salt rocks beware taking turns too quickly, they can act like ball bearings. Keep me updated if anything comes together.

yeah. never stopped. it was weird. but ive seen that red one before drivin around. ill flag him down next time.

i know what you mean about the different kind of BMW owners. 528 drivers are soccer moms. 540 drivers are business men. M5 drivers are enthusiasts (except that damn woman with black M5 that never waves back to me ). E46 3 series drivers are usually mom's too, 330Ci guys are usually business types, and M3, entusiasts....weird

i think the thing is, only enthusiasts, and people that actually know anything about cars know the difference between the M3 and the 328. When i showed some of my friends my new M last night, they were like "it looks just like your old one with better rims." Thats the great part about the M cars though too, theyre not very flashy

Yes, I agree. I had a guy ask me yesterday if mine was a 328. He had no idea what an M was and asked how the M would stack up against a 328. I just smiled and said that it would hold it's own. Then he went on to tell me how he has a mustang conv.

Here's the thread of the local people getting together:

I know what you mean, when asked what kind of car I have, if I say an M3, most say "what's that"? They don't even know the M3 is a BMW, let alone where it stands as compared to the 3,5,7 series. Oh well.
