    maintain a 96?

I'm about to buy a 96coupe with mid 50's on the clock... how long does the clutch last (figuring average driving)

any other issues that I should be waiting to break?

From my reading I am planning on replacing the radiator, the thermostat housing and the waterpump with more durable parts... but what needs to be looked at when.

I have seen the RTAB's, but that doesn't concern me...

Clutch should go to 100k miles, thats when mine was replaced... only because I accidently smoked it... twice... 50's is a very good condition car, I don't think you'll run into any problems until you get to 90k.

I've got a 92 k, 1996, car is still doing great. No problems besides the loose tail lights, windows that sometimes move down when u tell it to move up. NOthing serious.

anyone know how to tell if inspection I and II have been done? can I run the VIN somewhere?

Thanks for the vote of confidence... I should have a lot of time enjoying this thing then, (I only put ~7k on a car a year)

Just call up a BMW dealer and they will be able to tell you what services have been performed on the car.

Other than the things you have listed most of the problems you will run into are minor things like replacing a fog light, brake light switch etc...

Good luck and congrats on the car!

It's always hard to know how hard a car has been driven.

Taking the car to a certified BMW mechanic is probably the best way to get piece of mind.

Clutches are always a touchy subject. Some guys get low 100k out of their clutches and others 40-60k.

If the car was ragged on, you might need a new clutch soon.

My friend rode his clutch so bad on his new G20 that he burned it in 20k miles-very sad.

No racing (not that you would in a G20) or anything...just bad bad bad techniquie.
