    M Stitching on Steering wheel

One of the reasons I bought an M3 was the M stitching on the wheel. It makes the M3 seem special even when you not in the twisties or one the throttle. I got tired of not being able to see the M Colors anymore so I decided to clean it and make it better. Well it turned out great the colors are vibrant again not as good as new but ten times better than they were.

I dabbed the end of a towel in shout and applied it generously to the stitching then wiped clean.

        And probably packing 'em in!

Has anyone ever heard of the stitching coming apart or is it mostly cosmetic? I'm with you Blackspeed, that stitching is pretty cool.

Is it possible to purchase a replacement steering wheel cover?

Mine is worn out from 117,000 miles and the threads have faded to the point that you can't even see them! Do the dealerships stock these things?

              Thanks,

              Cameron

Just did this today with Shout Gel! I suggest using two Q-Tips at once and not rubbing too hard.

Then go over it with a wet towel to get the extra Shout off the wheel.

                  Great result, thanks!

wow, that's really shitty. They won't rewrap it?

I better start treating mine better just in case.

Does anyone condition it or something?

I'm worried that the oils/sweat on my hands is going to mess it up, can I put something on it?

Interesting. What would you guys say about if the ticking was brand new...putting a coat of clear coat nail polish over it? I don't know myself. That could be removed and I can't imagine the ticking flexs more than human nails do. Just a thought.

I do know that the 9 year old ticking on the 95 has held up great. Just got a lil'dirty which the Shout took care of.

clear nail polish - I'm not so sure it can be removed... at least now without destroying the stitching. I think the nail polish would be absorbed into the fibers - it would take a horrible amout of nail polish remover to take that off. Ever spilled nail polish on a shirt?

The oil on your hands is actually supposed to be pretty good for the leather part of the wheel. Leather is skin - it likes the oils. I don't know about the stitching part.

I would advise against doing that. It will crack and get hard and then it'll look like hell.
