    Racing Clutch - Driveability ???

At some point in the future, I am going to replace my clutch and possibly go with a LTW flywheel. If I upgrade to a clutch like a Spec 2 or 3 clutch with much greater holding power, will I have problems with driveablility if I do not have a SC, etc. yet? In other words, if I buy a clutch designed to be used on a vehicle with a lot more hp/tq than my car has at the time, will there be any issues?

Obviously I want to upgrade to a clutch that will handle the power I hope to have someday.

i would jsut go with the UUC stage 2 and M5 clutch.. that should be plenty of holding power and should be fine on the street.. im sure it would be a pain with a much more powerful clutch.. but who knows..

      AMPowerJ-

I have sold a handful of SPEC clutch kits and no one has complained about its performance.

One of my customers has a SPEC Stage 3 with an UUC 11lbs flywheel and this is what he quoted...

"Hey Jon,, yeah the clutch rocks.. very driveable a little grabby but I prefer it this way.. As far as dyno I am very broke at the moment and I have succeeded in racking up 3 tickets in a short period of time.. So I am driving in the slow lane and have reduced my quasi race car to basic transportation. I should start thinking about some track time???"

This customer has an AA SC M3.

For any supercharger M3 I recommend the SPEC Stage 2. For Turbocharged M3 making more than 450f.tlbs I recommend the Stage 3 or Stage 3 enchanced.

No, you will be fine. With or without the added power it will feel more rough though. A friend of mine has a turbo SC300 with a clutch capable of 500 bhp and it sort of chatters every time it enganges but it is fairly smooth. Don't know if this will be the case.

How come I see some hub sprung and some not? are the springs more for daily drivers?

              Quote from UUC,

"The advantage of a sprung-hub clutch design is improved resistance (and in many cases, complete elimination) of the residual chattering noise at idle that some lightweight flywheel-equipped cars can experience."

You must get a flywheel that will accept a sprung hub clutch disc like the UUC Stage II. SPEC also makes sprung hub discs on order as well.

                Thanks for the information.

Jon - What do you think about LTW flywheels on SC/Turbo cars?
