    Jersey cops still use X-band

I was in Jersey a few days ago and I heard rumors that their cops are still in the stone ages.

Well, it's true. I saw 2 speedtraps where the cops were using X-band. I detected them from seriously 1-2 miles away over hills and everything because X-band is so crappy.

The signal just got stronger and stronger. So, if you ever see that on a highway, don't ignore it.

If you have x-band disabled like I was considering...unprogram that if you're in Jersey.

Two cops within 30 minutes of each other make me wonder how frequent it is.

Haha, I just picked up my Passport 8500 two days ago, and I am already getting annoyed with the stupid X-band but I guess I will keep it. Is Ka the main band used by cops or does it depend solely on where one is located?

It mostly depends on where you are located.

Take K threats fairly seriously- though they CAN be stores- but they are almost always real on the highway.

Ka is always a cop in my experience.

Laser is always a cop, but don't depend on an early warning. It is really hard to detect this.

Your Escort will let you disable X band in city mode only if you want, but it will work in all other modes.

It's in the programming. Read up on it.

Laser WAS only cops. Now my V1 picks up Laser when behind an Envoy or Trailerbrazer .

Steve..I'm almost certain x-band radar is retired in all southern CA. (7 years and yet to see one.)

X-band is sooooo old school that you really need not worry about it most of the time...apparently unless you're in Jersey.

So behind the times. Oh well. I'm sure you're fine anywhere in Cali.

What about those GM twins sets off the V1? I wasn't aware they used ANYTHING technologically advanced.

I had a V1 and it would go off (Laser) at Del Taco sometimes. I have no idea why. Also, I was behind a car (might have been a Trailblazer) and when they stepped on the brakes, laser would go off. It was very strange. Now I have an Escort 8500, and so far, no false alarms like that. But I do miss the arrows....

Oh, back to the topic. I took my x band off, but I put it on during long trips. I've seen only one cop using the x band, and that was about 3-4 years ago. I thought NJ would be one of those places where they'd be ahead of everybody in technology (or funds).
